This is a topic that has been analyzed many times and that always ends the same: the numbers rule. No one detracts from what is done by players who greatly influence the game beyond statistics, but not in the most extreme cases are they rewarded with a nomination for the most important award of the year, MVP.
In that shortlist of privileged people who play basketball like few others is Draymond Green. The Warriors player is completing a fantastic campaign to help his team currently have the best record in the NBA at 28-7. Obviously next to him is one of the best in history like Stephen Curry, but such a circumstance must overshadow Green. Quin Snyder, head coach of the Jazz, it is clear to him.
«I think if you want to put someone in the conversation for the MVP, he is someone who would be there for me.Maybe the numbers don’t match some other guys do… He just does the job his way, “says Mark Haynes of ClutchPoints.
To be exact, Green is averaging 8.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, 7.5 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.2 blocks in 30.6 minutes per night this season. Yes, he does everything on the floor and is Curry’s main partner in one of the best teams in the league. You cannot put a but to his work, but talking about the MVP seems like another story.
