Real Madrid survived the ambush of its host Huesca, by defeating it with difficulty (2-1) in the match that brought them together today, Saturday, in the 22nd round of the Spanish Football League.
Midfielder Javi Galan put the hosts ahead with a superb goal, scored in the 48th minute, after a typical counter attack.
But the French defender Raphael Varane played the role of his fellow defender sniper, Sergio Ramos, who was injured, and saved the royal team from falling into the cliff, by scoring two successive goals in the two minutes (55 and 84) of the match.
Real Madrid raised its score after this victory, to 43 points, and was ranked second in the league standings, three points ahead of its traditional rivals Barcelona, who will be a guest at Real Betis on Sunday evening.
Huesca is at the bottom of the league standings, with only 16 points.
