Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune decided to convert 10 administrative districts in the south of the country into states with full powers.

The presidential statement read: “According to the law related to the regional organization of the country, the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdel Majid Tebboune, decided to upgrade the ten administrative districts of the south to states with full powers.”
And the matter is related to the states: Timimoun, Burj Baji Mukhtar, Bani Abbas, Awlad Jalal, En Saleh, En Qazam, Tikrit, Gantt, Al Mughayir, Al Manea.
On December 10, 2019, Parliament approved the law on regional organization, which includes the promotion of 10 administrative districts to provinces with full powers, but the presidential ratification of the decision was issued on Sunday.
Following this decision, the number of governorates in Algeria will be 58, up from 48.
