US Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell has called for ex-President Donald Trump to be given two weeks to prepare for his trial before the House on charges of inciting disobedience.
McConnell said in a statement that he had directed this proposal to Senate Democrat Leader Chuck Schumer.
McConnell suggested referring Trump’s impeachment file from the House of Representatives to the Senate on January 28, and then giving Trump two weeks to prepare before the proceedings begin.

If met, this request will postpone Trump’s trial until mid-February.
It is noteworthy that the House of Representatives agreed on January 13 to question President Trump for his supposed role in the storming of the Capitol by supporters on January 6.
Consequently, Trump became the first president in the history of the United States to open the file of his impeachment twice. But the issue was not referred to the Senate before Trump left office on Jan.20.
