Previous Secretary of Point out Rex Tillerson is envisioned to testify in the trial of a former adviser to former President Donald Trump who is charged with colluding with the United Arab Emirates.
In a letter submitted Saturday, billionaire trader Tom Barrack’s lawyers indicate the Department of Justice known as Tillerson to testify as a witness upcoming week. Barrack’s lawyers asked for in the letter, reviewed by Insider, that Tillerson be called to the stand on Monday in order to have ample time to cross-analyze him.
Tillerson served below Trump in between 2017 and 2018.
Barrack is staying charged with illegally acting as a foreign agent on behalf of the UAE, obstruction of justice, and earning bogus statements to the FBI. Barrack was charged in July of last 12 months and his trial began final 7 days in Brooklyn, New York.
Prosecutors say Barrack attempted to increase language favorable to the UAE in Trump’s speeches in order to sway officials on insurance policies similar to the region.
Barrack informally recommended the former president for the duration of his marketing campaign and also served as a member of the President’s Inaugural Committee under Trump.
Associates for Tillerson and the US Attorney’s Business office in New York did not quickly reply to Insider’s ask for for remark.
