Moscow announced today, Wednesday, that the health authorities in Morocco have approved the Russian “Sputnik V” vaccine against the emerging corona virus.
The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade confirmed in a statement that the announcement of the decision to register “Sputnik V” with the procedures for emergency use licensing (EUA) came from the Moroccan Minister of Health Khaled Ait Al-Taleb, during negotiations that took place yesterday, Tuesday, with the leaders of the Russian Fund for Direct Investments in the presence of the Moscow ambassador to the Kingdom. The ministry indicated that the two sides began preparing a contract on “Sputnik V” (which is the first vaccine against the Corona virus that was developed in the world), pointing out that the signing of a long-term partnership agreement with Morocco, given the Kingdom’s role among African countries, may contribute. Tangible in organizing the supplies of the Russian vaccine to the countries of the African continent.
This brings the total number of countries that have adopted “Sputnik V” so far to 48 countries, including Arab countries, which are Algeria, Palestine, the Emirates, Tunisia, Lebanon, Bahrain, Syria, Egypt and Iraq.
Sputnik V is currently the second most popular vaccine against the coronavirus in the world, in terms of the number of countries that agree to its use.
The effectiveness of the Russian vaccine, which is vaccinated in two doses, reaches 91.6%, according to the results of clinical tests confirmed by the respected medical journal “The Lancet” in early February, with 100% protection from the risk of serious cases of infection.
The Russian vaccine should be stored at temperatures between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius above zero, which allows it to be stored in a regular refrigerator.
