Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov expected US President-elect Joe Biden to use Ukraine to a large extent in his anti-Russia policy.
In an interview with Ukraine.ro, Bushkov said, “Washington will not distance itself from Ukraine, which could become one of the main directions of anti-Russian activities in the Biden administration.”
He added, “Biden will use Ukraine as one of the US’s trump cards against Russia, and in particular, military cooperation between Washington and Kiev will be intensified, that is, US support for Ukrainian forces will increase.”
He pointed out that “he would not be surprised if the Biden administration prepared for the emergence of a US military base on Ukrainian lands, and that President Vladimir Zelensky spoke earlier about building two military bases in Ukraine on the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.”
He said: “Given that the Ukrainians do not have the money to build military bases or anything else, I think this will be financed from abroad, and the United States is a clear candidate for financing the construction of such bases in Ukraine.”
Pushkov also stressed that “Washington can move to provide Kiev with defensive and offensive weapons.”
