The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship in Jordan announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding to enhance joint bilateral cooperation with Egypt in the field of information and communication technology.

The ministry said in a press statement today, Thursday, that “Prime Minister Bishr Al-Khasawneh and his Egyptian counterpart Dr. Mustafa Madbouly witnessed the signing of the memorandum last Tuesday, as part of the work of the 29th session of the Jordanian-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee, which held its main sessions on Tuesday evening in the Jordanian capital Amman.”
According to the ministry, the memorandum of understanding includes “employing the available capabilities in the field of communications, information technology and mail to support and develop cooperation between the two countries in several areas, including digital infrastructure, by making use of the Egyptian international cable network and linking it to Jordan.”
Experiences and best practices in force in the two countries in the field of digital transformation and electronic payment will also be exchanged.
The memorandum of understanding stipulates “joint cooperation in building human capacities in the fields of communications, information technology, and postal services, and organizing an Egyptian-Jordanian initiative for technological innovation and entrepreneurship to form joint teams from both sides working to develop solutions and products that serve projects in the two countries, in addition to organizing joint conferences and competitions between the two countries in the field.” Technological innovation and entrepreneurship. “
The memorandum also stipulates “cooperation and exchange of experiences in the fields of artificial intelligence applications and the organization of cloud computing services in the public sectors and exploring the possibility of encouraging investment in these areas, as well as cooperation in the fields of planning, research, development and investment in the field of communications and information technology.”
According to the Memorandum of Understanding, “the two parties will coordinate the positions of the two countries in international and regional forums and global organizations specialized in the field of communications, information technology and post, especially the International Telecommunication Union and the Universal Postal Union, and a joint team (Jordanian-Egyptian) in the field of communications, information technology and postal will be formed to follow up the implementation of Areas of cooperation”.
