SMEs recognized with Excellence Award 2022

Micro, small and medium-sized companies are the backbone of the Mexican economy because they are the ones with the greatest presence and the ones that generate the most jobs, and in recognition of their importance, the Mexican Competitiveness Center (CCMX) awarded the SME Excellence Award 2022.

“This exercise promotes the culture of excellence in SMEs to achieve world-class standards, contribute to the development of production chains and support a sustained growth of the economy”, explained Juan Carlos Ostolaza, General Director of the CCMX.

The award, given in collaboration with the Association of Former AOTS Fellows, Mexico-Japan AC, assessed that SMEs have strategies that allow them to have a better competitive advantage, that they are productive and what their position is in the market, as well as having an audit to evaluate the results obtained.

Winners

Based on this analysis, seven SMEs were chosen in the following categories:

• Micro category. Special Recognition: General Soles, from the State of Mexico.
• Small Business Category: 1st Place Yucatecan Distillates, Mérida; 2nd Place Kuuruch, Chihuahua.
• Medium Business Category: 1st Place Cajas Especiales, Guadalajara; 2nd Place Sensacolor, San Luis Potosí.
• Large Companies Category: 1st Place Fresh Fruit (Cold), State of Mexico; 2nd Place Rodamex, Mexico City.

In addition to the recognition, the winners will have the opportunity to link with companies of the Mexican Business Council to offer their product or service; and will receive a certificate of pre-authorized credit for 1.5 million pesos for small companies, up to 2 million pesos for medium-sized companies, and up to 5 million pesos for large organizations.

They may also participate for a training scholarship in Japan and learn about the Toyota Production System. Since the launch of the Award in 2019, some 125 SMEs have benefited from this scholarship.

“The relevance of this initiative promoted by the CCMX as an exercise in promoting how to make more profitable an organization and disseminate in the industrial environment the importance of orderly and productive growth of SMEs”, concluded Marcos Escobedo, President of AOTS Mexico.
