President Donald Trump indicated on Monday that a potential healthcare agreement could be part of negotiations with Democrats to end the ongoing government shutdown. While signing an executive order, the President confirmed that discussions are underway, stating, “we are speaking with Democrats,” and suggested that “some good things could happen with health care.”
Trump specified his willingness to negotiate on Affordable Care Act subsidies, telling reporters he would make a deal “if we made the right deal.” He also offered a message of optimism, saying, “Just hang in there, because I think a lot of good things could happen, and that could also pertain to health care.”
