The head coach of the Golden State Warriors, Steve Kerr, has influenced the good performance that Otto Porter Jr. has offered in these first two months of regular season.
The forward has established himself as an important piece of the team’s rotation, where he has achieved some stability after several years punctuated by injuries and physical problems. The technician had an impact on this last detail.
“I think the biggest surprise to us is that he’s been healthy,” Kerr said on the podcast. Damon & Ratto. “It had been a difficult couple of years for Otto. He couldn’t be healthy. As soon as he signed his contract this summer he has been in the training room every day. He has worked hard. We knew he was a good player. We try to find out if it would be available and fit. It was great to see him at this level. He’s a fun player to coach. “
Porter Jr. landed with the Warriors last August under a minimum wage deal. In 26 games he has averaged 7.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 19.8 minutes for a team that currently has the second best record in the Western Conference.
“We know what we are capable of and it is just a matter of going out on the court and showing it every night,” said Porter Jr. “We have to go game by game. Whoever is out there, we have to focus on Warriors basketball. “
