© Reuters. Euro falls below $1.0550 after US inflation data
Frankfurt (Germany), Dec 9 (.).- The euro depreciated below $1.0550 on Friday after wholesale inflation data from the US and after having previously approached $1.06.
The euro was trading around 4:00 p.m. GMT at $1.0537, compared with $1.0544 in the final hours of European currency market trading the previous day.
The European Central Bank (ECB) set the reference exchange rate for the euro at $1.0559.
Consumer confidence in the United States (US) improved in December more than expected and producer prices rose 0.3% in November from the previous month and 7.4% year-on-year, less than in October ( 8.1% year-on-year).
The single currency was exchanged in a fluctuation band between 1.0516 and 1.0588 dollars.
