The Magical Town Brand generates an 8% increase in state GDP: M. Torruco

Oaxaca, Oaxaca. The category of Magic Town generates an average growth in its economic activity of 8% per year for an entity, so in order to trigger this impact, it seeks to increase the capture of the US market, informed the federal Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marqués.

When inaugurating the fourth edition of the Tourist Tianguis de los Pueblos Mágicos, he explained that they already have the last cut on the economic impact of the implementation of this program focused on the subnational and that seeks to decentralize tourism from traditional destinations.

For example, tourist economic units in these towns have grown at an average annual rate of 5.5%, income from the supply of goods and services 14%, average income per economic unit 8% and hotel occupancy between 6 and 8 percent. .

“From the foregoing, it follows that the Pueblos Mágicos brand for any destination that is awarded the appointment implies an annual increase of 8% of its gross census value added,” he added.

He said that as a new action for next year, the edition of the Tianguis de los Pueblos Mágicos Internacionales will be held in Los Angeles, United States, while in 2024 the New York or Chicago square will be sought.

“In the second half of 2023, the second edition of the International Tianguis de Pueblos Mágicos will take place in Los Angeles, California, the city with the largest Latino population in the United States, especially Mexicans, who represent 76.6%,” added the official.

The international event aims to increase the rate of foreign visitors in local destinations, in addition to displaying information on the digital platforms Visitméxico and Pueblos Mágicos, México Desconocido.

The secretary recalled that the first edition of the International Tianguis de Pueblos Mágicos took place this year in Barcelona, ​​Spain, where 75 tour operators from 16 countries participated.

He recalled that in order to strengthen the tourist product of the states, this federal administration opted to transform the National Fair of Magical Towns into the Tianguis de Pueblos Mágicos, in addition, these points are already promoted in the Tourist Tianguis of Mexico, and for the edition of the next year in the capital they are also projected to have a greater international scope, since 100 countries will attend.

Infrastructure

The improvement of the infrastructure of these demarcations has been a priority, which is why the Magic Color Routes program was established, which aims to improve the urban image.

Also, from 2019 to 2022 with the Secretariat of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development (Sedatu), 144 works have been carried out with an investment of more than 3,200 million pesos, generating more than 43,000 jobs.

In 2021, nearly 955 million pesos were allocated to the Magic Villages in various construction and renovation works, benefiting Palenque in Chiapas, San Andres Cholula in Puebla, Bacalar and Tulum in Quintana Roo, Valladolid and Izamal in Yucatan and Huamantla in Tlaxcala . . . .

In 2022 the places benefited were Ixtapan de la Sal in the State of Mexico; St. Andrew’s Cholula in Puebla; Cod in Quintana Roo; Angangueo, Cuitzeo, Jiquilpan, Paracho, Pátzcuaro, Santa Clara of Copper, Tacambaro, Tlalpujahua and Tzintzuntzan in Michoacan.

In the remainder of the year, the Magical Towns of Santiago in Nuevo León and Xilitla in San Luis Potosí will be added. And by the beginning of 2023, Cuatro Ciénegas, Parras, Viesca, Arteaga, Candela and Guerrero, from Coahuila, will be incorporated.
