London, Oct 24 (.).- The pound sterling rose 0.15% against the dollar and 0.27% against the euro on Monday after former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson decided not to run for the post of Head of the UK Government and Rishi Sunak, former Minister of the Economy, remain the clear favourite.
The British currency was trading today in the foreign exchange markets at 1.1361 dollars and 1.1534 euros, after registering declines in recent days due to political uncertainty in the United Kingdom.
The Conservative Party, in power, has started an internal process to choose its new leader and prime minister after the resignation last Thursday of Liz Truss due to the chaos that her fiscal program -with tax cuts- caused in the financial markets and the pound would sink.
Last September, after that fiscal program was announced, the British currency came to be equalized against the euro and touched 1,032 dollars, its lowest level since 1972.
