The President of Portugal was infected with Corona virus

The official website of the Portuguese presidency has confirmed that President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa has been infected with the new Corona virus.

On Monday, a statement issued by the President’s press office indicated that the president’s test to detect corona was negative on Sunday, and despite the negative antigen test, the results of the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test were positive.

The statement added that the president did not show any symptoms of the disease.

It is noteworthy that Portugal has recorded more than 489 thousand cases of Coronavirus since the start of the epidemic and more than 7.9 thousand deaths from the virus, according to the data of the Portuguese Ministry of Health published on Monday.
