© Reuters. The Sao Paulo Stock Exchange closes the first week of the year with losses
Sao Paulo, Jan 7 (EFE) .- The index, the main reference of the Sao Paulo stock market, advanced this Friday by 1.14% and at the end of the session it stood at 102,719 points, but ending the first week of 2022 in red numbers, according to the consolidated data of the closing.
During the week, the indicator accumulated a negative variation of 2.00%.
This Friday, the Brazilian stock market again detached itself, for the second day, from the negative trend of external markets, discouraged by data from the labor sector in the United States.
The São Paulo stock market thus recorded a financial volume of 26,310 million reais (about 4,671 million dollars) this Friday and totaled 4.0 million transactions.
With slight fluctuations and almost always in positive territory, the largest Latin American stock market by volume traded moved this Friday between a maximum score of 102,719 integers, when it rose 1.13%, and a minimum of 101,103 units, with a decrease 0.45% momentary.
After a 0.55% rise in the trading session on Thursday -the first rise in 2022-, the indicator added another 1,158 units to its accumulated score this Friday.
The gains were led by the unit papers of Banco Inter, which advanced 15.46%, followed by the ordinary ones of the oil company Petroleum (6.88%) and of the mining company Vale (5.82%), one of the largest iron producers and exporters worldwide and which were also the most traded titles on the stock market day.
Losses in the stock market, meanwhile, were led by preferred shares (-5.44%) and ordinary (-5.33%) of the Lojas Americanas network of stores and electronic commerce, seconded by the similar ones of the state power company Eletrobras (-4.38%).
In the foreign exchange market, the dollar depreciated 0.82% against the real and ended the week trading at 5,631 reais for purchase and 5,632 for sale at the Brazilian commercial exchange rate.
In the 5 sessions of the week, the US currency appreciated 1.00% compared to the Brazilian denomination.
