Sao Paulo, March 31 (EFE) .- The index, the main reference of the Sao Paulo stock market, fell 0.22% this Thursday and at the end of March stood at 119,999 points, losing the symbolic bar of 120,000 units, but ending the month and the first quarter on the rise.
In the month, the indicator accumulated a positive variation of 6.0%, while in the first quarter of 2022 the gains totaled 14.47%.
In the foreign exchange market, the dollar depreciated 0.57% against the real and ended the last day of the month trading at 4.758 reais for purchase and 4.759 for sale at the Brazilian commercial exchange rate.
In March, the US currency devalued 7.69% against the Brazilian currency, while so far this year the drop is 14.65 for the “greenback”, confirming the downward trend in 2022.
This Thursday, the Brazilian stock market was aligned with the international scenario and attentive to the behavior of the prices of raw materials abroad, which led to some volatility of the Ibovespa, which reversed the upward trajectory it had during much of the trading day.
The São Paulo trading floor thus recorded this Thursday a financial volume of 28,604 million reais (about 6,010 million dollars) and totaled almost 3.4 million transactions.
With some oscillations, the largest Latin American stock market by traded volume moved this Thursday between a maximum score of 120,879 integers, when it momentarily advanced 0.51%, and a minimum of 119,999 units, obtained at the close of operations.
After a rise of 0.20% on Wednesday, the indicator subtracted 260 units from its accumulated score this Thursday.
The gains were led by the ordinary papers of the Sao Paulo basic sanitation company Sabesp, which rose 5.46%, followed by the similar ones of the electronic payment manager Cielo (4.36%) and the company’s preferentials. electric company Cemig (2.98%).
The losses in the stock market, meanwhile, were led by the ordinary shares of the online shopping discount platform Meliuz (-5.54%), seconded by those of the same type of the network of stores and electronic commerce Lojas Americanas( -5.50%) and the oil company PetroRio (-5.06%).
In turn, the most traded titles on the day were the preferential ones of the state oil company Petrobras (NYSE:) (1.39%).
