The General Directorate of Security in Turkey announced the start of the application for travel between Azerbaijan and Turkey with an ID card as of next April.
In its statement on Tuesday, the Directorate indicated that citizens of the two countries will be able to exchange visits without the need for a passport, as of April 1.

Last December, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that the protocol signed with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Ceyhun Permov, would allow freedom of travel with identity cards between the two countries.
Çavuşolu congratulated the citizens of his country and the citizens of Azerbaijan on this occasion, stressing that this is consistent with the concept of one people in two countries.
It is reported that Turkey has similar agreements for freedom of movement with identity cards with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia.
