Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky complained about the desire of his citizens to obtain the Russian vaccine against the Corona virus, according to the newspaper “The New York Times”.
He explained in an interview with the newspaper that he would be unable to explain why the Russian vaccine was not acquired by his citizens, saying: “Of course, it is impossible to explain to the Ukrainian community why vaccines should not be taken from Russia when it is not possible to obtain them from America and Europe.”
According to the newspaper, Zelensky was frustrated after US President Donald Trump issued a decree banning the export of vaccines, as Kiev had previously been negotiating supplies with companies (Pfizer), (Moderna), and (Johnson & Johnson).
The Ukrainian authorities are planning to start a comprehensive vaccination against the Coronavirus in February 2021.
