The US Department of Homeland Security warned in a statement that violence may occur by those opposed to the presidential transition or by those with anti-government views or motivations based on false narratives.
Acting Secretary of Homeland Security, David Pecowski, issued the National Terrorism Advisory System (NTAS) warning that a “threatening environment” exists throughout the United States and may continue in the following weeks.
“Information indicates that some ideologically motivated violent extremists who object to the exercise of government power and the presidential transition, in addition to other perceived grievances fueled by false narratives, may continue to mobilize to incite or commit violence,” the bulletin said.
