The British newspaper “Daily Mail” highlighted the Indian woman who gave birth to her first child at the age of 70 through artificial insemination, becoming one of the oldest mothers in the world.
Jevonbin Rabari and her husband, Maldari, 70, proudly displayed their unnamed baby to reporters, as they said it had been delivered by artificial insemination, the newspaper reported..
Rabari indicated in her speech that she did not have an identity card to prove her age, but she told reporters that her age was 70, making her one of the oldest mothers in the world.
The couple live in a small village called “Mura” in Gujurat, India, and have been married for 45 years and throughout that period they tried to have children without success, as the years passed and they had a child through artificial insemination.
While another Indian woman, Iramati Mangayama, is believed to be the oldest, having given birth to twins in September 2019 at the age of 74.
“It was one of the rarest cases I’ve ever seen,” says the couple’s doctor, Naresh Bhanushali. “When they first came to us, we told them they couldn’t have a baby at this advanced age but they insisted, and indeed they had IVF.”.
