Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar stressed the necessity of resolving the differences between his country and Greece through dialogue.
In a statement to the Turkish “Anatolia” agency, Akar expressed Ankara’s readiness to resume talks aimed at resolving differences with Athens.
He pointed out that “Ankara is looking forward to launching exploratory talks on the one hand, holding dialogue within the framework of confidence-building measures and strengthening confidence, and launching talks on a mechanism for resolving the conflict between Turkey and Greece within the framework of NATO, on the other hand.”
He said, “We believe in the necessity and possibility of resolving disputes with Greece through talks and dialogue.”
He pointed out that Turkey’s policy regarding the eastern Mediterranean is clear, and that it looks forward to implementing international law and bilateral agreements.
He thanked Germany for its contribution to peace and the eastern Mediterranean solution.
He stressed that Turkey “looks forward to all other parties being objective when assessing the problems between Turkey and Greece.”
