(Trends Wide) — Two people were killed and 28 wounded in a mass shooting at a popular party in Baltimore, authorities said. Nine people were taken to area hospitals and three of the injured are in critical condition.
Police received multiple calls just after 12:30 a.m. Sunday, and upon arrival found a dead woman and nine other people with gunshot wounds, according to Acting Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley.
“This was a reckless and cowardly act that has permanently altered many lives and cost the lives of two people,” Mayor Brandon Scott said.
Earlier, Baltimore police had reported that their officers were at the scene of a “mass shooting” that occurred overnight in south Baltimore, Baltimore police spokeswoman Lindsey Eldridge said Sunday.
The incident occurred in the 800 block of Gretna Avenue, Eldridge said.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
