Union “Miguel Trujillo” loses contract at Goodyear after voting by 83% of workers

unionized workers in the Goodyear plant, San Luis Potosithey chose to discard their current collective bargaining agreement, whose union is “Miguel Trujillo” linked to the CTM, since 83% of the votes were against, which means that the contract must be terminated.

This is the second time that the contract legitimization process has been carried out. The first process was suspended due to the theft of the ballot box that contained the votes; while the Federal Center for Conciliation and Labor Registration took control to carry out this second vote.

According to the results, in the presence of observers from the National Human Rights Commission, the International Labor Organization, workers and registered observers, the register was 1,149 workers with the right to vote; 873 votes were cast; of which 727 were against; while 140 were in favor and 6 void.

It should be noted that this company has a labor complaint against it within the framework of the T-MEC, whose acceptance by the United States Department of Labor is in the process of being resolved.

In this regard, the legal representative, paul franksaid that “with this rejection of the collective bargaining agreement, the stage is opened for Goodyear workers to benefit from the application of the rubber industry law contract.”

He added that “a collective labor contract should never have been allowed, that what it sought was to prevent them from obtaining the benefits of said contract law.”
