Unionists in the US give their support to the Union League to negotiate a contract with VU Manufacturing

In Troy Michigan, where the company’s facilities are located VU Manufacturingmembers of the trade union Democratic Socialists of America (DSA for its acronym in English) came to draw attention to the negotiations of the collective bargaining agreement carried out independently by the Mexican Workers Union League (LSOM), which recently obtained the Certificate of Representation to carry out its first negotiation with the company.

According to the participants, this local event is part of a broader collaboration with the Comité Fronterizo de Obreros and a bi-national organization, the Mexico Solidarity Project, with La Liga.

They highlighted that despite having widely won the election to represent the more than 400 workers of VU Manufacturing in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, “they continue to be obstructed by the company,” as well as publicly defamed and threatened by the minority union and by the VU Manufacturing employer.

The League organized the event with supporting organizations to bring their demands directly to the headquarters and executives of VU Manufacturing, LLC, and to request that the company enter into serious contract and good faith negotiations.

It should be remembered that in September the vote was carried out in which the Union League obtained 186 votes, against 101 votes in favor of the Confederation of Workers of Mexico and 4 null ones.

The participation of the workers was 68%, since out of a register of 425 people, 291 came to cast their vote. Thus, the union that obtained the highest number of votes had the right to obtain the Certificate of Representation of all because there was no other organization that could claim ownership.
