Caracas, Mar 15 (EFE).- The Foreign Trade Bank (Bancoex) of Venezuela concluded a second workshop aimed at Venezuelan diplomats accredited abroad, with the aim of strengthening commercial exchange and contributing to the “boost” of the economic sector through exports, the institution reported on Wednesday.
Bancoex explained, in a press release, that this seminar was offered virtually together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Institute of Higher Diplomatic Studies of the Caribbean country.
Bancoex’s Vice President of Business and Export Promotion, Juan Freer Romero, pointed out that the goal is to be able to address each country in detail, as well as open new markets.
“Every day we get closer to that goal of having that presence at the international level and helping you (diplomats) in the work you are doing to consolidate commercial diplomacy,” he added.
Freer Romero argued that Venezuela has increased the “exportable supply” of its “non-traditional” products, thanks to a “comprehensive policy that helps Venezuelan producers receive inputs more economically, have more tools for production, and be more competitive for the exports”.
Likewise, he said that there is a “good disposition” to help the heads of missions, business managers, ambassadors and consuls to do their job, and thus improve the economy and “consolidate” the “recovery and economic diversification”.
The diplomats, Bancoex detailed, received training on the export process in Venezuela and its offer, as well as issues related to the logistical aspects of foreign trade.
According to information presented by the Venezuelan Government last January in the accountability of President Nicolás Maduro, the so-called non-traditional exports grew by 151% in 2022 compared to 2021 and generated 1,314 million dollars, while imports rose 106%, going from 3,979.3 to 8,194.4 million dollars.
