What cities in Mexico are shaping up to be ‘smart cities’?

This December 2 marks the Day of the Future and in this sense, it is necessary to mention how the cities they have to perform in an environment where sustainability is necessary for the well-being of its inhabitants.

According to the firm HEI Community, focused on the creation of real estate developments, Mexico City is the benchmark in the country regarding the concept of ‘smart city’because they have initiatives such as:

• Wifi in public places.
• Video surveillance cameras.
• smart lighting.
• Use of apps to facilitate mobility.
• Promotion of the creation of green and intelligent buildings.

“It is considered a smart city o ‘Smart City‘ to that which applies information technology (ICT) in order to provide infrastructure to its inhabitants to guarantee sustainable development and optimize the resources of each city. In our country, the Mexico City is already moving forward to make this model the future of the main Mexican cities,” the firm said in an analysis on the matter.

Within the HEI Community analysis, there are other cities in the country that are also projected as smart citiesdue to its advances in connectivity and the incorporation of technology into its infrastructure.

In this scenario, these cities are:

• Puebla.
• Queretaro.
• Tequila.
• Guadalajara.

“(These cities) are among the next mexican cities aimed at being ‘Smart City’ as they begin to incorporate technology and mobile tools to transform and integrate their cities and territories to the Smart model”, the firm highlighted.

For HEI Community, Guadalajara is a clear example of how it begins to integrate into the “smart” concept, since it has developments such as the Nápoles project by Huella Desarrollos, which is located in the Providencia neighborhood and is designed to have exclusive amenities and technological characteristics for the benefit of its inhabitants.
