He reiterated that the position of the Greek government on resolving the Cyprus problem is consistent on the basis of a “federation with two regions and two sects, the relevant Security Council decisions and European acquisitions.”
It is noteworthy that Cyprus has been divided since 1974 when Turkey invaded and occupied the northern third of the island, and the last round of talks supported by the United Nations took place in 2017 in the Swiss resort of Crans Montana, but they failed to achieve any results.
