Evans, a former judge of popular Australian cooking programs and the owner of a large number of cookbooks, has become one of the most famous promoters of unfounded allegations about Covid-19, which she says is “hoax” and “nonsense” among the millions who follow his page.
He also urges people not to get tested for the disease, which has killed more than 1.7 million people worldwide, or to receive the vaccines that experts say are important to stem the pandemic.
He announced on his Instagram account on November 20 that he would leave Facebook, but he continued to post on the page until it disappeared today.
“We do not allow anyone to spread misleading information about Covid-19 that may lead to imminent physical damage or allegations about Covid-19 vaccines that have been refuted by public health experts,” Facebook said in a statement.
She added, “We have clear policies regarding this type of content and have removed the page of Chef Pete Evans for his repeated violations of these policies.”
Facebook did not explain why it kept its page on its Instagram platform.
In previous Instagram posts that are still out there, Evans referred to the vaccine as “fraud” and “toxic” and appeared to urge people not to get tested, saying, “No tests – no cases.”
