The Mexican stock exchange (BMV) trades with a slight loss this Wednesday. The stock market falls back in a day that begins with low business volume due to the end of the year holiday period. However, the markets remain attentive to the advance of the contagious Covid-19 Omicron variant.
The benchmark index S&P/BMV IPC, made up of the shares of the 35 issuers with the highest value by capitalization and liquidity in the local market, fell -0.11% to a level of 52,026.61 units. The FTSE BIVA, the main index of the Institutional Stock Exchange (Biva), yields -0.07% to stand at 1,075.22 units.

Within the benchmark, most stocks are losing, with 18 in red, 15 in green, and two unchanged. Its worst components so far this day are Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico, with -1.54%; FEMSA, with -1.06%, Alsea, with -0.93%, and Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste, with -1.18 percent.
