Heroic tradesmen have performed a citizen’s arrest on an elderly man after another male was allegedly shot at a construction site.

One man suffered a gunshot wound to his upper body at the Rebecca Drive worksite in Ravenhall in Melbourne’s west at 8:30am on Wednesday.

Another man, in his 80s, was restrained by workers on the scene until police and emergency services arrived shortly after.

Victoria Police attend an alleged shooting at a worksite on Rebecca Drive, Ravenhall in Melbourne’s west. One man was allegedly shot while another man, in his 80s, is in custody

The man who was shot was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Meanwhile, the elderly man is currently in police custody.

‘The man, believed to be in his 80s, is currently assisting police with their enquiries,’ a Victoria Police spokeswoman said.

‘The exact circumstances surround the incident are yet to be determined and the investigation remains ongoing.’

Mother Annette, whose son works at the site next door, said the shooting was allegedly over a financial dispute.

‘This guy’s pulled up in his truck, got out his gun and said ‘he owes me money’ and shot him twice in the arm twice,’ she told 3AW.

‘It’s a citizen arrest. They’ve got him down.’

More to come.
