(CNN) — Britney Spears has said she wants to tell her life story and now she’s landed a book deal to do just that.
A source close to Britney Spears told CNN that the singer recently signed a contract with publisher Simon & Schuster, valued at more than $15 million.
The New York Post was the first to report on the singer’s upcoming book.
The source disputed a report that Spears’ decision to share her story was made in response to recent memories of her younger sister, Jamie Lynn, which the singer publicly denounced.
CNN has contacted Britney Spears’ publicist and publisher for comment.
A Good Time for Britney Spears: Book, Engagement and End of Guardianship
The book comes at a time of new beginnings for the Grammy winner. She is engaged to marry her longtime partner, Sam Ashari, and her guardianship of 13 years ended last year.
At hearings over the summer, Spears described the court-ordered settlement as abusive and said her father, Jamie Spears, should face criminal charges for his role as guardian.
Spears’ father has maintained that he acted in his daughter’s best interest.
Britney Spears has yet to publicly comment on her plans for the book.
