The Bulgarian news agency (Sofia) reported, today, Monday, that Health Minister Kostadin Angelov made this decision late last night after an exceptional meeting with Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, where according to the decision, those who have already arrived from the United Kingdom will be subject to quarantine for a period 10 days.
The Bulgarian Minister of Health Angelov has ordered a ban on entering the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria through all border crossings, by air, sea, rail and road transport for all persons arriving at a point of departure from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
It is worth noting that this new measure has surprised hundreds of passengers during the past hours, as they learned that they were subject to quarantine literally while they were on the plane.
Eight planes were scheduled to land in the capital, Sofia, from Britain today, but the authorities decided to cancel flights to and from the United Kingdom.
It is noteworthy that this prohibition does not apply to citizens of Bulgaria and people with permanent or long-term residency, as well as to their family members .. The Ministry of Health indicates that they must be subject to a mandatory 10-day quarantine upon arrival in the country.
This measure is necessary due to the emergence of a new strain of Covid-19, which is said to be spreading throughout the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
