The meeting that the presidents will hold Joe Biden from the United States and Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador of Mexico must yield “concrete” results on issues that concern both nations, such as security and migration, in addition to sending positive signals to investors, demanded the Employers’ Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex).
“We see with concern that in recent years some bilateral collaboration actions have lost strength; Particularly, in matters of security and the fight against organized crime, an example is the dismantling of the special investigations unit that collaborated with the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA)”, held Joseph Medina Morapresident of Coparmex.
Also, the meeting of Heads of State “could be a positive signal for the markets; it is necessary to give certainty to investments, but this will only be possible if there are concrete results”, he warned.
The Coparmex considered positive the meeting between the presidents of the United States and Mexico, above all, as a result of the absence of the Mexican president in the Summit of the Americas. “We hope that the meeting will lead to actions that strengthen the commitment of both countries in the various economic, political and social spheres,” he added.
The businessman considered it essential that the Mexican government carry out actions to strengthen the relationship between the two nations, so that results, strategies and concrete actions are achieved through dialogue that contribute to solving the common challenges that exist in economic matters, migration, security, combating arms and drug trafficking.
“Coparmex’s proposal is to put people at the center of decision-making,” said Medina Mora.
The meeting to be held tomorrow will contribute to generating an environment of greater trust within and outside the nation, since trust is a highly necessary factor to promote the arrival of more investments in the country, which means the creation of a greater number of jobs and opportunities for Mexico, he said.
“The first-level dialogue that will arise contributes to building trust that attracts investment and strengthening the interweaving of economic, political and social bonds to achieve the transformations and great changes that are needed on the shared border. between Mexico and the United States”, highlighted the president of Coparmex.
