- In his speech, the state president stressed the importance of reading and guiding young people to bring them closer to true knowledge.
Culiacán, Sinaloa, December 14, 2022.- Governor Rubén Rocha Moya led the closing ceremony of the Culiacán 2022 International Book Fair, a festival that has been held since December 8 and will end on December 15. this same month.
Rocha thanked the entire Sinaloan cultural community that made it possible for this first edition to be held in Sinaloa, in turn he explained that over time it will be strengthened, so that in each new edition it will grow and Culiacán will be able to have an International Fair that will live up to its name.
“This book fair is one of the best news for Sinaloa and its capital, which I am sure will progressively strengthen until it becomes an event that will honor its name, its international name, of course the Sinaloan cultural community, writers, editors, readers who have contributed their valuable collaboration to make this first edition possible, I congratulate you and thank you for your generosity in favor of Sinaloan culture”, he said.
The state president spoke of the importance of reading, alluding to the fact that it is a liberating mental act, which takes us away from the prejudices and beliefs that have been inherited for generations, to have a broader perspective of everyone and also of each person who about to read.
“Personally I believe that reading books, both classics and contemporary ones, is an act of liberation from oneself, from the prison of our prejudices, whoever reads has the possibility of freeing himself from his prejudices, from the inherited and assumed beliefs of the parochial and cultural limits, normally reading makes us better people, allows us to reach a peak from which to observe ourselves, from outside and from afar, to recognize ourselves in the universality of thought and culture and not only in the specificity of our prejudices”. added.
Given the high production of books and the excess of information in the society we live in, Governor Rocha stressed that it is extremely important to guide young readers so that they do not get lost in this overexposure and they can apprehend the knowledge.
In this closing ceremony, the governor was accompanied by the municipal president of Culiacán Juan de Dios Gámez Mendívil, the deputy Ricardo Madrid Pérez and the professor Samuel Ojeda Gastélum, as well as cabinet officials, local deputies and aldermen of the Culiacán council.
