AFL legend Brendan Fevola’s comeback has continued after selling his $2.2million Melbourne property and snapping up a lavish home.

Fevola and his ex-wife turned fiancée, Alex, offloaded their Brighton East property after splashing $3million on a five-bedroom home in the affluent southeast Melbourne suburb of Hampton.

The pair, who split in 2016 before later reconciling, confirmed the sale on Instagram, and said the period Edwardian home was the perfect place for their four children to ‘make memories’.

Fevola posted about the purchase on Instagram, writing: ‘Fun Saturday, new family home to make memories. Let’s go.’

He and Alex made a cool $50,000 profit on the four bedroom home they purchased in 2019 for $2.15 million.

The 40-year-old Lions great has gone from strength to strength after bouncing back from a crippling gambling addiction.

Last month he revealed he sold one of his Coleman Medals to feed his habit while he was drunk at 4am.

Fevola shared on his Fifi, Fev and Nick radio show that he handed over the prestigious medal, which he won in 2009 as the league’s leading goalkicker, to a mate in exchange for cash in 2011.

Fevola said he made the decision during a boozy night out to fund his punting habit – which he admits spiralled out of control.

‘I was at a mate’s house after a race meet and he is a huge Carlton supporter and he is pretty well off, pretty rich, he has got all his memorabilia up in his room,’ he said.

In 2019, Fevola revealed how he was was pulled from the depths of depression as he battled his gambling addiction and alcohol abuse after a rocky split with Alex, 43, in 2016

‘We were out the back having a big sesh [session], it was about four in the morning and he is like, “I would love one of your Colemans to put up there” and I go, “Do you want to buy it?”.

‘I got the cash, probably lost it the next day on the punt.’

In 2013 he declared bankruptcy and admitted he had gambled away $1million.

Fevola said he’s undergone treatment for his addiction that gripped his life a decade ago.

He urged others who find themselves in struggling with gambling to seek help.

‘Gambling is a huge disease, as in it is very addictive, so if people do have trouble make sure you call someone to help,’ he said.

Back in 2017, Fevola revealed the moment he won big – then lost big – and how he knew he was in trouble.

Explaining his gambler’s mentality to co-host Fifi Box at the time, he said: ‘When you win, you get excited and you want to bet more, but eventually you’re going to lose, because you keep betting bigger and bigger and bigger.’

In 2019, Fevola revealed how he was was pulled from the depths of depression as he battled his gambling addiction and alcohol abuse after a rocky split with Alex, 43, in 2016.

The former AFL star admitted he ‘didn’t realise’ the extent of his mental health problems until he was ‘saved’ by ex-Brisbane Lions Coach Michael Voss.

‘I didn’t really know there was too much wrong, I was in my own bubble doing what I thought was something I loved which was footy,’ Fevola told the What’s Your Problem podcast at the time.
