The world’s largest hotel company, Marriott, confirmed on Sunday that it will suspend donations to US lawmakers who voted last week against endorsing President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.
“We have taken into account the devastating events that took place at the Capitol to undermine legitimate and fair elections, and we will stop the donations our Political Action Committee makes to those who voted against the election certification,” said Connie Kim, a spokeswoman for Marriott.
The spokeswoman confirmed a report based on a poll of more than 100 companies regarding donation plans.
“Citigroup” said in a memo to its employees on Friday, which was seen by “Reuters” that it had reviewed the positions of lawmakers who led the move to block the ratification of the electoral college vote and found that it awarded 1,000 dollars to Republican Senator Josh Holly campaign.
“We would like you to be reassured that we will not support candidates who do not respect the rule of law. We intend to stop our donations as the country goes through the presidential transition in the hope that it will emerge from these events stronger and more united,” said senior company official Candy Wolf.
Hawley and Senator Ted Cruz have called on the Senate to reject the electoral college votes in the states that voted for Biden.
