A motorist has died after his car careered into a tree as wild weather continued to batter Sydney.
Emergency services were called to Mona Vale Road near the intersection of Cooyong Road in Terrey Hills, in the city’s north, about 8.30am on Monday to reports a of a single-car crash.
A man, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

He was the sole occupant of the car and no one else was injured during the crash.
Police said initial investigations determined the vehicle left the road and collided with a tree.
A crime scene has been set up and investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash continue.
