Despite the economic reactivation and the advance of the vaccination in Mexico, the film industry continues to go through difficult times. Attendance remains low and the income of commercial cinema chains has not yet recovered from the crisis.
According to preliminary figures from the Canacine (National Chamber of the Cinematographic Industry) while in 2019 about 328 million movie tickets were sold, for the cut of December 5 the figure reaches just 90 million.
The main reasons why aid could be affected is the realignment of spending priorities in households, the rise in cost of who (on average 20% more expensive) and the persistence of new variants of the Covid-19.
