A mother has been ‘shamed’ over a ‘budget’ lunch she prepared for her two young daughters, aged eight and nine.
The woman, believed to be from the UK, shared pictures showing two plates of food – complete with three triangle-shaped sandwiches made with brown bread, fries, carrot and capsicum sticks, apple slices and mini Kinder chocolates.
She was looking for some guidance on whether her children’s lunch was an appropriate portion size – but she claims she was slammed for not serving a ‘substantial’ amount of food.
Confused over the backlash, she decided to asked a group of parents from a different Facebook group whether there was anything wrong with her portion sizes.

‘Ok so I got told off in another group… apparently this isn’t a substantial lunch for a nine-year-old and eight-year-old,’ the woman wrote.
‘It’s a budget lunch yes, but I thought it’s ok?’
The mother-of-two was met with thousands of ‘positive’ responses, with dozens of parents jumped to her defence, reassuring her they ‘failed to see the problem’ with her children’s lunch.
‘I think that’s a lovely, nicely presented lunch, especially for any child that “eats with their eyes”. How much each child eats is down to the individual,’ one woman wrote.
A second said: ‘Looks fab. Ignore the trolls, they’re only after a reaction and obviously got nothing better to do with their time.’
And a third added: ‘I think this is amazing. It’s difficult to think of healthy options without being over the top boring. Love it.’

Other parents said her lunch looked ‘fine to me’ while others insisted: ‘I would happily eat that’ or ‘feed to my kids’.
‘And people wonder why we have so many overweight children. This is a perfect lunch – sandwich, crisps, some fruit and vegetables, plus a chocolate treat,’ one said.
However, one woman share her honest opinion, saying her son ‘at that age would of eaten both [of the plates] but it would do the job’.
As many applauded the mother over her children’s lunches, she responded to the feedback, saying: ‘This group is so positively amazing. Thank you all. You all have truly lifted my spirits.’
