A savvy mum has shared her time-saving ‘hack’ for camping trips, and parents across Australia are praising her for sharing the ingenious idea ahead of the school holidays.
Angela, from New South Wales, said her family spend much of the year travelling in their campervan, and she was sick of eating either ready meals or endless bowls of plain pasta.
‘Travelling Australia in our campervan like we do, when we house sit, we prepare meals and freeze them in blocks,’ Angela wrote.

‘This means that when we’re on the road we can get one out and heat it over the fire in our pot and have a beautiful home-cooked meal.
‘There are no sauce jars in all these meals, they are made completely from scratch,’ she added.
Angela’s home-cooked meals included the likes of spaghetti bolognese sauce, Thai red curry, BBQ pulled pork, Irish onion soup and chilli.
Each of them is stored in labelled zip-lock bags, so she knows exactly what every dish is, and the mum only has to add a simple carbohydrate like rice or pasta to give her children a healthy, balanced meal.
The NSW woman, Angela, said she bulk cooks and cools, then freezes healthy meals in zip-lock bags (pictured) so they always have something healthy on the road
Hundreds of other parents who saw the post praised the idea, and said they wished they could be this organised before going away:
‘This is amazing, you’ll be the envy of all other campers,’ one commenter posted.
‘Made from scratch is cheaper, healthier and more delicious. Well done for sharing!’ another added.
Others asked about the logistics of preparing so many meals ahead of time:
‘All the meals are cooked, cooled and then frozen,’ Angela said.
‘All we need to do is simply re-heat, except the pancake batter is raw, made and frozen. Then we just need to de-frost, stir and cook the pancakes over the fire.’

Previously, another mum wowed thousands with her simple Kmart camping hack, and she said it has streamlined her packing and means she never forgets what she needs.
The Australian woman called Mandie posted on Facebook, where she said she bought a Kmart meal prep container with various sections for $8 and then puts her tea, coffee and sugar into the relevant parts rather than bringing separate boxes or packets.
‘I’m so sick of going camping and either forgetting the coffee or the sugar and having separate containers for each,’ Mandie wrote.
‘So this Kmart lunchbox was perfect!’
Thousands who saw the trick on Facebook said they will definitely use it in the future, and the meal prep container is something they will invest in.
‘Great idea and I’m now doing this for our trip away on Sunday,’ one woman posted.
‘Next level genius – I need this for work too,’ another added.
However, some were quick to point out that the coffee could spill into the sugar section if it were too full.
The lunchbox has countless five-star ratings and reviews online, with many saying it’s ‘awesome value’.
‘Excellent product and price,’ one person posted.
‘Very happy with these containers – just what I need to store my meals in the freezer.’
