New car sales in Mexico grew 7% during 2022

The Automotive industry exceeded its expectations in Mexico, by selling 1 million 086,056 vehicles during 2022, which represents an increase of 7% compared to 2021, reported the Inegi (National Institute of Statistics and Geography).

However, the level of sales in December is still below the sales in the same month of 2019, being 7.4% lower, said the AMDA.

By disclosing the progress of sales to the public in the domestic market according to the Administrative Registry of the Automotive Industry of Light Vehicles (RAIAVL) of December 2022, December of this year 120,862 light vehicles were sold, a figure 24.1% higher than the 97,420 units of December of the previous year, which marks an increase of 23,442 units.

The result for the month of December marks the eighth positive annual rate of 2022.

Nissan It remains the leading brand in national sales, selling 168,940 units, thereby breaking the expectation that General Motors would reduce it after 13 years. The American sold 165,117 cars, mostly manufactured in China.

Guillermo Rosales, president of AMDA, highlighted that the results for the month of December reflect an improvement in the level Inventorywhich although differentiated between brands, has resulted in an improvement over the previous lag.

The AMDA projected growth of 5.7% at the end of 2022, to market 1 million 70,000 units.
