In alliance with MineraliA and within the framework of the reopening of Mineralia Gallery, the Mexican design studio Taller de Obsidiana unveiled the first obsidian wall open to the public in Mexico City, in Polanco.
The installation is made up of more than 700 mosaics of black and gold obsidian and pays tribute to the Great Tenochtitlan, since each of its pieces represent a conceptual reconstruction of the pyramid of the Templo Mayor, one of the most representative works of Mexica architecture.
With the legend “Negro como mi corazón” in the center of the new wall created by Taller de Obsidiana, the firm headed by the brothers Gerardo and Topacio Cuevas Campos reaffirm once again their concept inspired by the Popol Vuh, where it is said that man is made of corn and its heart is black as obsidian.
“Design and interior design have already become part of our daily life, and that is what we want to convey to the visitors of Galería Mineralia with this wall, so that they know that creativity and design are infinite and are present in each an element of their day-to-day life, and that even installations like this can be part of the decoration of any own space ”, comments Gerardo Cuevas Campos, director of Taller de Obsidiana.
The gallery affirms that this artistic wall is designed for lovers of minerals, fossils, design, architecture and interior design, and invites you to visit it at the Mineralia Gallery headquarters, located at Edgar Allan Poe 30A, Polanco, Ciudad from Mexico.
The exhibition will be open to the public permanently from Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the entrance has no cost, neither the photo or the selfie, they indicated.
