Partial withdrawals due to unemployment in Afores totaled 2,025 million pesos during March

Partial withdrawals for unemployment made in the administrators of retirement funds (afores) reached 2,025 million pesos (mdp) in the month of March; this represented a real drop of 2.8% compared to the year.

In a monthly comparison, the amount withdrawn increased 31%, since in February 2022 1,546 million pesos were withdrawn, according to data from the National Commission of the Retirement Savings System (Consar).

In the first quarter of the year, the balance accumulated by the partial withdrawals for unemployment totaled 5,135 million pesos, this represented a real decrease of 8.4% compared to the first quarter of last year.

In the detail by fund administrators, Afore Coppel marked an outflow of resources of 447.2 million pesos; XXI Banorte, 337.6 million pesos; Citibanamex, 276.4 million pesos; Sura; 175.8 million pesos; Profuture, 148.6 million pesos; Invercap; 113.2 million pesos; Principal, 101.8 million pesos; Inbursa, 49.1 million pesos; and Pensionissste, 4.7 million pesos.

Increase the number of workers who carry out the procedure

The Consar also detailed that the workers who made withdrawals in the month of March were 174,276. This represented an increase of 3% compared to the same month last year.

The number of workers who decided to process the partial withdrawal due to unemployment was 26% higher compared to February (138,245 workers).

In this context, the accumulated figure for the first quarter shows a figure of 451,237 people. This figure is lower by 0.3% (1,368 fewer people) compared to the same period last year. In the first quarter of 2021, 452,605 people were counted by Consar.

Partial retirement due to unemployment is a right that has helped millions of workers during the two years that the pandemic has been in Mexico.

In April 2021, the Consar authorized that partial withdrawals for unemployment could be processed from the application of Afore Mobile. However, only those who have their Electronic File updated will be able to do so.

In case of not having the app, the interested party must go to the branch of their Afore to carry out the procedure.
