Terrifying police siege as a man waving a machete takes a woman hostage in a suburban home – and is heard yelling ‘I am not going back to jail’

A machete-waving man who yelled ‘I’m not going back to jail’ at police has taken a woman hostage in a Sydney home.
Police surrounded the home on Denison Street in Carramar, in the city’s west, at about 1pm following reports of a disturbance.
Witnesses said they saw the armed 35-year-old in a confrontation with police on the front veranda, before he retreated inside.
The pair were still hauled up inside the home five hours after officers arrived.

Neighbours said the man was recently released from prison and wears an ankle bracelet as part of his parole, according to 9 News.
They also said the man could be heard yelling: ‘I am not coming out, I am not going back to jail.’
It is understood that the woman was not injured, but paramedics were on the scene.
Police put the street in lockdown and have urged residents to stay away.
Some officers appeared to be carrying what appeared to be circular saws.
