Queretaro, Qro. The state will remain in modified Scenario A through at least January 23, as determined by the Technical Committee for the Attention of Covid-19 in the entity, a decision that was made in view of the indicators of the permanence of the virus and the low hospital occupation that has a stable behavior, the committee affirmed.
In the entity there are 6,658 active cases, as of January 15, these are the active cases reported from January 2 to January 15, according to records from the federal Ministry of Health.
The number of active cases in this period represents 11 times more (an increase of 1,002%) compared to the 604 reported in the period from December 18 to December 31, 2021. Since then, Queretaro has shown increases in the number of active infections.
The last report of Covid-19 infections Released by the Querétaro Ministry of Health, as of January 14, it accounts for 107,283 cases accumulated since the start of the pandemic. It also reports that 6,139 people have lost their lives due to the disease in the state.
Faced with the increase in infections that has occurred in the entity, to a greater extent during the beginning of the year, the governor, Mauricio Kuri González, has stated that – although it is the decision of the committee of specialists to determine the scenarios – he considers that the entity It would go back to Scenario B (which implies more restrictions on capacity and hours of establishments) only if 50% hospital occupancy is exceeded.
The IRAG Network Information System (Severe Acute Respiratory Infections) reports that as of January 15, the entity has a general hospitalization bed occupancy of 22.89%, which has increased steadily since the beginning of the year.
In this context, the members of the Technical Committee for the Attention of Covid-19 highlighted that the pandemic remains active, so it is essential to comply with the non-pharmacological recommendations: the correct use of the mask, the constant washing of hands with soap and water or the use of alcohol gel, keeping a healthy distance, carrying out activities in ventilated spaces and limit mobility to what is essential, in addition to seeking social distancing measures.
High demand for tests
Faced with the increase in the number of cases of Covid-19 and the increase in the demand for diagnostic tests, the members of the committee recommended taking extreme measures and making rational use of them, to ensure their provision for both epidemiological surveillance and medical care.
Therefore, they recommended the use of diagnostic tests (PCR and rapid antigen tests) with the following priority: all cases with an indication for hospitalization due to respiratory symptoms; respiratory symptoms in patients who belong to the group at risk of aggravation of the disease, due to presenting some comorbidity (diabetes, hypertension, obesity, etc.); health professionals with respiratory symptoms; detection in patients who need to be hospitalized for other reasons, according to the regulations of each institution; professionals with respiratory symptoms who are part of essential and face-to-face services.
They specified that the situations in which the tests are not recommended are in asymptomatic people (including contacts), the use of these as a requirement to leave isolation and rejoin their work area, to access public places or events.
