Resigning Congressional Police Chief: Security officials obstructed efforts to summon the National Guard

Resigning US Congressional Police Chief Stephen Sunde told the Washington Post in an interview that House and Senate security officials had obstructed his efforts to summon the National Guard.

The newspaper quoted Sund as saying that his supervisors were reluctant to take formal steps to request the National Guard even after receiving information that the crowd that President Donald Trump called to Washington last week to protest his defeat might be much larger than previous demonstrations.
