Senate Intelligence chair Mark Warner said it can be “breathtaking” that 21 decades right after the September 11, 2001, terrorist assaults, “the assault on the image of our democracy” hadn’t come from overseas threats but from in the US.
“I remember, as most Americans do, the place they have been on 9/11. I was in the middle of a political marketing campaign and suddenly, the variations with my opponent seem to be very tiny in comparison and our region arrived together. And in numerous ways, we defeated the terrorists for the reason that of the resilience of the American public mainly because of our intelligence group, and we are safer, superior organized,” Warner informed CBS’s “Encounter the Country” host Margaret Brennan.
“The amazing matter to me is right here we are 20 decades afterwards, and the attack on the image of our democracy was not coming from terrorists, but it came from literally insurgents attacking the Capitol on January 6th,” he additional.
Warner said that he felt the country is “much better,” and the “intelligence community has done remarkably,” compared to 21 yrs ago.
“I feel the risk of terror has diminished,” he explained.
Even so, he additional that he’s involved about internal threats.
“But I do fear about some of the activity in this place wherever the election deniers, the insurgency that took position on January 6th, that is anything I hope we could see that very same type of unity of spirit,” he said.
On Sunday, Vice President Kamala Harris also addressed domestic threats.
