A busy shopping centre had to evacuated after a knife-wielding man ran into a pharmacy and barricaded himself inside.
The dramatic incident was sparked after a Toyota Prado ute allegedly failed to stop for police in the Busselton area, 220km south of Perth, about 10:50am on Tuesday.
Police then deployed a ‘stinger device’ used to puncture tyres on the vehicle that was driving erratically.

After a short pursuit, the man who travelled from Perth and is known to police, pulled into the Broadwater Shopping Village.
About 11.40am, he allegedly ran inside the Broadwater Pharmacy brandishing the knife.

Heavily armed officer from the Tactical Response Group were also deployed to the scene.

But in the end they were not needed.
‘About 12:15pm, after negotiation with police, the man voluntarily surrendered to police and was taken into custody without incident,’ WA Police said.
The alleged knifeman was arrested and taken to Busselton Hospital by St John Ambulance.
No one was injured in the chaotic incident and the alleged offender remains under police guard.
