© Reuters. Spain holds the second auction of the year on Tuesday, for 6 and 12-month bills
Madrid, Jan 9 (.) .- The Spanish Public Treasury will hold the second auction of the year this Tuesday, January 11, and will offer investors six and twelve-month bills.
The Treasury inaugurated the official auction calendar for 2022 on the 5th, and in that bid it managed to place 5,680 million euros in four different denominations of medium and long-term debt.
The last time that Spain sold six- and twelve-month bills was on December 7, and on that occasion the first ones came out at a marginal interest at historic lows.
According to Treasury data, the six-month bills sold at a marginal yield of -0.662%, while the twelve-month bills came out at an interest of -0.595%, somewhat higher.
Before holding the auction of bills, tomorrow, the Treasury will present its strategy for 2022, a year for which net financing needs of 75,000 million euros are expected, in line with the end of 2021.
After holding the first two bids in 2022, Spain will appeal to the market another two more times in January.
The next day 18 will auction bills for three and nine months, and on the 20, bonds and obligations.
